WHISTLEBLOWER ACTIVITIES

Both federal and Massachusetts law protect both governmental employees and employees of private companies from retaliation for reporting unlawful conduct. Certain types of employees, for example healthcare workers, also enjoy special protections. Massachusetts law also protects private employees from retaliation for doing what the law requires (for example, jury service), for refusing to do what the law prohibits (for example, engaging in unlawful conduct at the employer’s behest), or for reporting illegal activity to supervisors or the authorities.
